Q: What are the two ways I can save on my electric bill?
AutoSave: A smart, automatic program that compares your utility’s standard rate to a personalized Think Energy rate based on your usage. If we can beat the utility, you pay less. If not, you simply pay the utility rate—no switch unless it benefits you. Community Solar: A subscription to a local solar farm (no rooftop panels) that provides bill credits, typically 5–25% off your bill each month.
Q: Do I need solar panels on my home?
No. Community Solar uses off-site solar farms built in fields. Credits are applied directly to your utility bill as allowed by state programs. Nothing changes at your home. If your state uses a dual billing system, you may receive a separate bill directly from the solar farm. We have a video that shows this process.
How do I sign up?
Click Get Started and enter your zip code. If one or both programs are available, you can enroll online in a few minutes with a copy of your bill. If you’d like help, message us and we’ll walk you through it.
Q: Will my utility company or service change?
No. Your utility stays the same and continues to deliver power, read your meter, and send your bill. With AutoSave, the “supply” line may show Think Energy when you’re on our rate. With Community Solar, you’ll see solar credits that lower your total due.
Q: Are there any fees or contracts?
No. There are no enrollment fees, no cancellation fees, and no long-term contracts for either program. Cancel anytime.
Q: Why haven’t I heard of this before?
Utilities don’t typically promote these options(they don't want you to spend less, what a surprise) so many people simply haven’t been told they exist.. We are the only company that has AutoSave, and it is made possible by competitive energy supply options and our proprietary software system that can analyze your energy usage. Community Solar exists through state-supported programs that credit subscribers for renewable generation, it is meant to protect you from rising energy costs.
Q: How do the savings actually work?
AutoSave: If the Think Energy rate is lower than your utility’s, you save. If it isn’t, you stay on the utility rate. It happens automatically and you don't have to do a thing, month after month. If you ever pay more with Think Energy, you get an automatic refund for the difference the following month. Community Solar: You receive monthly bill credits for your share of the solar farm’s production, reducing what you owe your utility (anywhere from 5–25% savings depending on your states program).
Q: Who can enroll—homeowners, renters, small businesses?
All of the above. Basically, anyone with an electric bill in an area we service can save. You do not need to own your home, we help renters, homeowners, apartments, etc. Small businesses (up to ~100,000 kWh/year) can participate in autosave, but community solar is not an option yet. For businesses over 100,000 kWh/year please contact us for a specialized rate that will be cheaper than your utility provider.
Q: Will my power ever be interrupted?
No. Both programs work in the background. Your electricity is delivered exactly the same way by your utility and your utility stays your provider at all times.
